Antti Makkonen
I am a photographer based in Tampere Finland. I'm interested in documenting the events and phenomenons of human life. I am mainly focusing on the every day life of the common people. I am also drawn towards alternative and underground culture.
I like to think myself as a documentarist and an artist at the same time. I draw inspiration from the past and use nostalgia to process the issues of the modern world. For me photography is at the same time communal and private experience. It is a tool for me to cope in this world.
Themes that I am currently working on: contemporary culture, underground culture, youth culture, nostalgia, identity, social issues, alcoholism and substance abuse, equality, solidarity, working class culture, Karelia.
I am open to international collaborations. Feel free to contact me if you find my style and philosophy suitable for your needs. You will find my contact information at the bottom of this page.
